The Summons

In August 1963, Henry received a Summons for not displaying the appropriate lights on his Sunbeam Talbot car while in Saffron Walden. The wording on the Summons is so marvellous that it had to be included on this website.

Henry obviously thought so too, as he sent it to his parents:

I enclose the summons I received for parking without lights in Saffron Walden in August: I pleaded guilty by letter and was fined £2. Rather a fine document isn’t it?!
